Name: Lazarus Lawliet
Age: 27
Occupation: Formerly, washed-up chess prodigy and failed author. Recently, coffee shop proprietor and headmaster of Willow Ridge Boarding Academy. Currently, investigator, translator, diplomat, and farmer.
Location: Shepherd's Haven, New Zealand
Appearance: Lazarus is a young man of mixed European and Asian descent. He's 75% European, 25% Japanese, so he presents as "white" with a few Asian features, such as very straight black hair and a smaller, more delicate bone structure. He is 5'10" (looks 5'8" due to a very curved spine) and weighs around 110 pounds, making him very underweight for his height. He has an appearance of general malaise and poor health, with a very pale complexion and sunken, dark grey eyes. His personal style consists of black, close-fitting and shabby clothes, unless someone is pushing him to look more professional, in which case he can pull off a suit decently. His hair is usually uncombed and wild.
Lazarus has a few identifying/notable scars and tattoos. He has similar vertical scars running along the undersides of both forearms from a suicide attempt 7 years ago. After the Invasion he had a psychotic episode that resulted in a broken window and a few resulting cuts to his face and body, some of which scarred and are still pink. He has a tattoo of his number across the palm of his hand, and a small green and black seedling design inked under his ear; he got both to show solidarity with his Numbered compatriots and to distinguish himself from his destructive Doppelganger. As of the beginning of Raise the Earth, he's also starting to develop some lean muscle tone from all the farm work he's been doing.

Lying monsters are a real nuisance, they are much more cunning than other monsters. They pose as humans, even though they have no understanding of the human heart. They eat, even though they've never experienced hunger. They study even though the have no interest in academics. They seek friendship even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such a monster, I would likely be eaten by it, because in truth, I am that monster.
35th Echo: December 2- When L encountered a Wolpertinger, he echoed back his sharp learning curve; he can rapidly learn up to 1 major skill (language, expertise in a field, anything that would ordinarily take years of dedicated study to accomplish) or up to 2 minor skills (anything that would ordinarily take a few weeks to get a competent handle on; knitting, card tricks, etc.) Tier 2

L: Misa Amane. Tell me, do you love Light from the bottom of your heart?
Misa: Huh? Uh yeah! Of course I do!
L: But you also worship Kira, don't you?
Misa: Well, yeah...
L: So then. If you had to choose between Light and Kira, who would you pick?
Misa: What? That's obvious, of course it's gonna be Light! I'm really grateful to Kira and want to meet him someday in person, but that's not true love! I'd definitely choose Light.
L: But your precious Light is planning to catch Kira. Isn't that right?
Light: Well, yes of course I am.
L: He says he wants to catch Kira. Now what will you do?
Misa: Well, if that's what Light says, then I'm gonna support him no matter what.
L: I see. So if you were given the opportunity to work with Light on this investigation, would you take the offer?
Light: What? Ryuzaki!
Misa: Yeah, of course I would! I'd do anything I could to help Light!
Light: Wait, hold on a second, where are you going with this?
L: I'm planning to have Aiber pose as Eraldo Coil again. He'll tell the Yotsuba members that while he was investigating L, he discovered that Misa Amane might know who he is. He'll also tell them that L brought her in for questioning on the suspicion that she was the Second Kira.
Misa: That part is true.
L: If the Yotsuba group believes that Misa could be their lead to finding L, then they'll say that they want to interview you to discuss their advertising campaign. They'll use that opportunity to question her. Thanks to Matsuda's screwup, they may already be considering Misa as their new spokesperson, so this could work.
Misa: Yeah! Right!
Light: We can't do that.
Misa: Why not?
Light: This plan is too risky, who knows what could happen to you?
Misa: Oh wow, does that mean you're worried about me? Really? Yaaaaaaay! But don't worry, I won't mind doing something like this if it's for you, Light!
Light: Listen, Misa, if they suspect that you might know who L really is, we don't know how far they'll be willing to go to get that information.
Misa: No problemo! I promise I won't say anything, even if they torture me!
L: I can attest to that.
Light: But Kira can control his victims' actions before their death. There's a good chance he might try to manipulate her into revealing what she knows and then kill her! Also, if he does manage to kill L, he won't have any use for Misa. He'd kill her to keep her silent.
Misa: Haaaaa I don't like the sound of that...
L: Light... you forget that if we win against Kira, Misa won't die. Besides, as long as we're handcuffed together, you and I share the same fate. If I die, so will you. If that happens, Misa is going to be the one who would grieve most of all. Either we lose and both die together, or we successfully catch Kira. Which is it?
Misa: We catch Kira! I would never dream about living in a world without Light!
L: Yes, that would be dark.
Light: Cut it out! This is just crazy!
L: We're running out of time, and I'm starting to get desperate. As for Misa Amane, I've turned to her because I know her bravery and love for you is boundless.
Misa: Do you really mean it? Oh, no, I think I've totally misunderstood you all this time! I even called you a pervert! But you actually do understand how I feel, don't you?
L: Yes... Misa is indisputably the most perfect and worthy woman for Light.
Misa: Yaaaaay! (KISS) You're such a sweetie, thank you Ryuzaki!
L: I could actually fall for you.
Misa: Let's not go that far. But you could maybe be a friend of mine! Would that be OK?
L: Yes. So now I have gained yet another friend...
Misa: Yeah, of course, any friend of Light's is a friend of mine as well!
42nd Echo: After reading in Misa's magazine about a mysterious 2-month disappearance, Lazarus remembers that L was the one who held and tortured her.
43rd Echo: Witnessing Elian's heart attack, Lazarus remembers that Kira killed criminals with heart attacks.
44th Echo: After kicking his doppel in the face, Lazarus remembers that Light Yagami wasn't just a suspect, he was an inconsistent suspect who seemed guilty one second and genuinely innocent, with no memory of his crimes, the next. 53rd Echo: After hearing Keldek's scrambled voice, Lazarus echoed back knowledge of the program/codes that scrambled L's voice (not the program itself)
54th Echo: After saying "Nothing I say makes any sense, anyway. If I were you, I wouldn't believe any of it," Lazarus echoes back the memory of Light answering those exact words with "You know, you're totally right. Honestly, most of the things you say sound like complete nonsense. There'd be no end to my troubles if I actually took you seriously all the time. I probably know that better than anyone."
55th Echo: Tier 2; The memory of what a headache it was to rescue an investigator from a bad situation by cobbling together an outright crazy plan involving disguises, a mattress, and a faked death. This sequence of events occurs in episode 19, "Matsuda." For the item, he's echoing back the paramedic uniform he wore as part of this plan.
56th echo: Talking to Near about the notebook passing between people, Lazarus echoed back the memory of his Other hypothesizing the same thing, and that Kira's power can pass between people and make the former user appear innocent.
57th Echo: His old clothes! These consist of a pair of baggy jeans and a long-sleeved white t-shirt that's probably actually a size too small for him, given that the sleeves don't come quite to his wrists. The neckline is all stretched out. (teleporter echo)
58th Echo: L meets Micah and remembers how much Mello liked chocolate, and ate it to better emulate him.

45th Echo: Misa scolded Lazarus for spending carelessly and he echoed back the knowledge that his other did this... as well as 1 million dollars in cash.
46th Echo: Nathan mentioned Mello by name and Lazarus remembered telling a blonde teenager about the LABB murder case.
47th Echo: Speaking and understanding Spanish
48th Echo: A functional and fully outfitted ambulance
49th Echo: A really unreasonably gorgeous three-tier strawberry shortcake
50th Echo: A white scarf
51st Echo: (tier 2) memory/memory Lazarus remembered after hearing the Death Note called by name a white and bony Shinigami with yellow eyes, and that touching the notebook allowed him to see her. \
52nd Echo: After seeing the diary page Misa showed him, Lazarus remembers sending two young men to Aoyama under camera surveillance; one of them was Light Yagami.
